Hello, everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I promise to check out everyone's blogs as soon as I can. It has been very hectic. Our house is framed now. I love my new job. I'm a little more challenged and don't have to spend my days blogging all though I miss you all so much. Thanks for all of your kind words. I couldn't have a better group to blog with than all of you.
Hello, everyone! Thanks for the kind comments while I was away. I really missed you all. We left town on Thursday morning for our 8 hr drive to Branson, MO. We had a great time. Our plan was to return on Sunday, but decided to cut our trip a little short and came back on Saturday to rest up prior to starting the new job. Good thing we did. We weren't home 10 min on Saturday night when Max's aunt called. She wanted us to meet her at his grandparents. We got there and an ambulance was taking his granpa away. He had no pulse and no heartbeat. We followed them to the hospital. A little after midnight they called us into a family room. He had passed. So we were glad at least we could be there for his family. We got up early on Sunday and went to his dad's for Father's Day to take him to lunch. Then went straight to his grandma's until the evening late. We are totally worn out. They will make arrangements Monday. Yes, I start my new job on Monday too. The visitation will prolly be on Tuesday night and the funeral on Wednesday, but we don't know yet. To top off the drama, I got a call this evening from a very dear old friend. She had a daughter when she was younger in our teens. Well, her daughter is 15 and been missing since Thursday night. She found out her daughter had been doing drugs and hanging with older kids. We were shocked. So the police have been looking everywhere. I'm about to go hit the streets with her tonight, so I'll prolly be exhausted come Monday for my new job. I'll catch up on everyone's blogs as soon as I can. Lots of drama going on. I have missed you all!
Sorry if I have been MIA and not around on the blogs. Tuesday was my last crazy day at work. I ran errands all day on Wednesday and heading out of town Thurs - Sun. I'll post lots of pics when I return. I'll be in training at the new job next week so might not be around a whole lot. Hope everyone has a great weekend and thank you for all your kind words on the last post. I'll miss you all over the next few days.
Father's Day is Around The Corner
Do you have any special plans? This is a paticuliar hard day for me since my dad has passed. If you want more details go to this post. Since we will be going out of town on Thursday, I thought I'd do a quick Father's Day post today to see what everyone had planned. So, here is the history of Father's Day:
Father's Day, contrary to popular misconception, was not established as a holiday in order to help greeting card manufacturers sell more cards. In fact when a "Father's Day" was first proposed there were no Father's Day cards.
Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.
The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. At about the same time in various towns and cities across American other people were beginning to celebrate a "father's day." In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Finally in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.
Father's Day has become a day to not only honor your father, but all men who act as a father figure. Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male friends are all honored on Father's Day.
Do you ever think back in time to where you once was or the kind of person you once was? I do. I always think about how every action has a reaction. If we were to make one different turn in life we would be somewhere different today. Kind of like "My Name Is Earl," talks about karma. I know I don't normally quote him of all people. Sometimes I have regrets, but then I realize that if I had of done something differently I would not be where I am today. I am a happy person. I'm not financially rich, but I am rich with love. I am healthy. I have a great family and wonderful friends. I have shelter. I have food on the table. What more could a person ask for. I just always hope I was never one of those "Mean Girls" growing up. I have often wondered. If anyone is reading this that possibly knew me while growing up, please let me know if I was ever mean to you. If I was, I am sincerely sorry.
Now, here will be the real suprising part. I have a "My Space" account. Nothing fancy. I had 2 or 3 real life friends start using is and I thought it was stupid. Well, I finally decided to get one just to comment back and forth to them. I enjoy the communication there, but miss the post that are in blog land. My Space has a section where you can browse other and you can do it by schools. This means it is so easy to find old class mates.
I grew up in a small town till after my freshman year of high school. I kind of consider it my hometown, because I lived there so long. After that I moved to the next town over. So I have got to reconnect with people from both schools. I got contacted by a guy I went to school with at the smaller town. I have copied part of his message to me:
"I always had a crush on you at that time, but was to shy to say anything. I also remember my freshman year I won some kind of fundraiser contest the band did and got $50.00. I remember DELETED NAME FOR OBVIOUS REASONS complaining about everyone on cheer leading having mums but her family would not buy here one. I thought it would be sweet and bought her one with the money I won and asked her to the homecoming dance. She did not like me and did not want to go. I told her she could take my name off the mum and just wear it with her cheer outfit to feel special. She left it, I believe her mom made her but I am not sure. I remember everyone cool laughing at me, but you. You said it was thoughtful and sweet."
Okay, now don't laugh at me, but I do not remember this at all. It still just made my day to know I had my own opinion in school and didn't let the other kids push their opinions over on me and I would still nice to him. He was a really sweet guy. I never knew about the crush either. Just reading this today and thinking back how many kids can be to other kids made me want to cry for him. I mean I'm sure he is over today, but to remember something like this tells me it must of really upset him that the girl didn't go to the dance with him and etc.
I know I have done more of my share of mean things in my life. I'm glad I at least made a nice comment to this sweet guy when he was down. Evidentally, something this small can really leave a lasting impression for some people. Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone that even with reflections on time of what we did back then isn't always what we would do not. We are older now and hopefully more mature. Sometimes doing something little can a long way for some people. Just keep this in mind and try to be nice to all.
I love you, my fellow bloggers! Have a great weekend!
This is for all the germ conscious folks that worry about using cold water to clean.
Frank went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of Georgia.
After spending a great evening chatting the night away, Frank's grandfather prepared breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. However, Frank noticed a film like substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather asking, "Are these plates clean?"
His grandfather replied, "They're as clean as cold water can get them. Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!"
For lunch the old man made hamburgers. Again, Frank was concerned about the plates as his appeared to have tiny specks around the edge that looked like dried egg and asked, "Are you sure these plates are clean?"
Without looking up the old man said, "I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don't you fret, I don'twant to hear another word about it!"
Later that afternoon, Frank was on his way to a nearby town and as he was leaving, his grandfather's dog started to growl, and wouldn't let him pass. Frank yelled and said, "Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car".
Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching on TV, the old man shouted...
"COLDWATER, GO LAY DOWN!!!!"
Meet Coldwater.....................
1. He always meets me at the door with his tail wagging. 2. He doesn't talk back 3. He loves me as much if not more than I love him. 4. He loves to snuggle with me. 5. He follows me everywhere. 6. He always protects me. 7. No matter what I throw, he will go fetch for me. 8. He doesn't argue over what program to watch on tv. 9. He doesn't tie up my telephone line. 10. He doesn't read my email. 11. He adores me unconditionally. 12. He is always there for me. 13. He shares me with blogging. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |

Usually I call today, Wednesday Hump Day. Today I'm calling it Wednesday Hung Over Day. Not to bad Hung Over, Just a little. We went out last night to happy hour with Max's dad. His friend is a DJ at this little hole in the wall. I didn't dress up thinking we were going to one place, but ended up at another. It ended up being a place that on a Tuesday night I didn't have to dress up, but on the weekends I would have. We got in with free cover when we said, "I'm with the DJ." Had to throw that in due to that old song. LOL! There started the beers on the house. Uusually one to two coming our way at a time. About 8:00 the band started. They were pretty good country band. The main singer was the son of Mason Dixon. Does anyone remember them? Anyway, we listened to a bunch of old B.S. stories between the older people around. We finally left about 9:00 pm and was starving. I suggested a good greasy burger to soak up the alcohol. Max's dad was driving so he hadn't really drank like Max and I. We went to down the road to Fat Daddy's. This is a cool place. They have a sign that reads, "Best Beer Around - FREE" and they mean it. It is just our favorite flavor. Free and cold. LOL! No joke. They give (2) big draft Bud Lite free per person. Since Max's dad wasn't drinking that gave us 3 prior to meal. Yummy! We got home close to 10:00. My alarm went off this morning and I pushed snooze. Well, I thought I did. I actually turned it off. I woke back up and clock read 7:12 a.m. and I had to be at work by 8:00. I have STD (Short Timers Disease - Get your mind out of the gutter) so I wasn't real concerned. Anyway, you talking about someone really looking like death warmed over today that would be me. To top it off, as I was feeding the dog before I left I noticed the answering maching blinking. I push the button. My landlord left a message he would be coming by today while we were at work and just wanted to give us a heads up. He usually gives us a bigger notice so this pissed me off, but I can't bitch. He is letting me out of my lease without a charge when we move into our new home and still returning our deposit. Woo-wee! Anyway, he is coming by for his quarterly maintenance. He will service the HVAC and etc. So my house is a mess. At least the dog will get some company, right? Well, I'm slammed for the morning, but will by playing this afternoon or so. Have a great day!
Well, my last day at work is still a week from today.
We have no replacement yet. Not my problem and
I refuse to feel guilty when I gave them such a long
notice. I said this was going to happen, remember?

My ovary hurts today. It really hurts everytime I step.
I was ovulating a few days ago. I hate when this does
this. Any idea why?

I would like to say that I'm so happy to PPP is back
blogging with us. I have really missed her. Now I
have her and EE to discuss The Hills with, unless we
also suck Kim into it. LOL! Kim is a closet Laguna fan,
but I don't know about the Hills yet.

Did anyone watch the season finale of Apprentice
last night? What did you think? I thought Shawn
was better than the young one, but still not my
first choice. What do you think will develope
in the future between Shawn and Tammy?

I hope everyone has a great day!
I may be a little hiatus this week. I'll try to post and get by to your blogs off an on this week in the evening. I'm training my replacement at work. For some reason, I don't think I should start out training with blogging 101. I think I should start out with the more simple things first and then move on to the priorities. LOL! Anyway, we had a wonderful weekend. I got up early on Saturdan and the dog JR and I went for a walk. This squirrel was up in the tree by my drive way and I couldn't resist taking a couple of pics to share with you all. I thought he was so cute. After our walk, I got cleaned up and went to breakfast about 8 am with an older gentleman Max and I use to work with. After that I came home and cleaned house while Max worked some more O.T. Then mom and I went to the Farmers Market downtown Dallas. I got a lot of fresh fruit and veggies. I came home and made some wonderful homemade salsa. Let me know if you want the recipe. I got it off NBC5i. It is the recipe from Blue Goose Mexican restaurant. It is so yummy!
Once, Max got home we went to the lake. Got there and went out for a spin in the boat till after dark. Then we all cooked out. It was so
yummy! I took some of my salsa too and it was a hit. We stayed at the lake all day on
Sunday. We got alot of R&R. Anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend. I can't wait to hear all about it. I'll be around on the blogs when I can. Please tell me all about your weekend. Have a great day!
EDIT: My trainee just quit at 9:30 am. No crap. She only made it through our weekly meeting and me showing her around. She decided this wasn't the job for her. To many office dutities and not enough accounting and it was to small of a company. We had bets that she wouldn't last. She seemed pretty unstable.
I heard this morning on the celebrity gossip on the news that Anna Nicole Smith announced she is pregnant. Why would she want to gain weight again after she just lost it all? You see this is why I'm not going on a diet. I would hate to lose a bunch of weight then finally get pregnant. That would be luck. At least it is a good enough excuse for me so I don't have to watch what I eat and exercise. LOL!

Today, I would like to offer donuts to everyone. I heard this morning that it was National Donut Day. In 1938, civilians would take donuts to the world war II fighters to say thank you, so on June 2, 1938 they returned the favor to the civilians. This is if I understood correctly while getting ready for work and listening to the news. I'm sure I'll get corrected on this numerous times today. LOL! That is okay, cuz I already know I don't have the story correct.

My mom made some good homemade ice cream last night. On the way to go eat some, we stopped by our new home. Construction has started. They has started forming up for the slab. Here are a couple of pics:

Finally for some fun. This something that will either make you laugh with it or offend you one. Sorry. I don't mean to offend anyone. Have fun with these:
WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST
She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee. Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box. Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week. Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl. And her husband is on the back of the milk carton.
WOMEN'S REVENGE
"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse. "So, do you always carry your TV remote?"I asked. "No," she replied, " but my husband refused to come shoppingwith me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."
UNDERSTANDING WOMEN (A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)
I know I'm not going to understand women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root, and STILL be afraid ofa spider.
MARRIAGE SEMINAR
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essentialthat husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes." He addressed the man, "Can you name your wife's favorite flower?" Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's Pillsbury, isn'tit?
CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS
A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up and down the aisles. The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife. She directs him down the correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter. She says, confused, "Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife? He answers, " You see, it'slike this, yesterday, I sent my wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers; cause it's sooooooooooo much cheaper. So, I figure if I haveto roll my own .......... so does she. (I figure this guy is the one onthe milk carton! )
WIFE VS. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying aword. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of themwanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied,"in-laws."
W O R D S
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day...30,000 to a man's 15,000. The wife replied, "The reason has tobe because we have to repeat everything to men... The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"
CREATION
A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time. "The wife responded, "Allow meto explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!
WHO DOES WHAT
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee."The husband said, "You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee." Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee." Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me." So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says..........
"HEBREWS" The Silent Treatment A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM." He left it where he knew she would find it. The nextmorning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn'twakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, "Itis 5:00 AM. Wake up." Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.
3. I start my new job on June 19. 4. I will be enjoying my one day off to myself on June 14.
